Man sentenced for cyber crime offences

Steffan Needham, a 36-year-old male from the Bury district of Greater Manchester, has been sentenced to two years in prison after being fired for his low performance in recent times.

After being fired, Needham stole the credentials of a former partner and logged into the Amazon Web Services accounts of the company, eliminating a total of 23 servers in that session.

The result was catastrophic, the digital marketing company lost several contracts with transport companies and had losses estimated at € 580,000 in addition much of the data deleted could not be recovered.

During the 9 days of the trial, Needham pleaded not guilty to two counts against the Law of Improper Use of Computers, in addition to one charge for unauthorized access to confidential data and another for modification of the same, however, he was convicted.

According to local media, the computer was dismissed after confirming the company that had a terrible job performance in a digital marketing company.
