About the Kymatio Booth Session Speaker:
Javier current role is Group’s IT & Data Risk Control Head as part of the 2nd line of defense at Banco Sabadell, 4th largest bank in Spain with subsidiaries in UK, US and Mexico, in charge of the oversight of IT implementation strategy and rest of the IT activities including, security, transformation, change-availability and continuity.
Javier’s relationship within IT Risk management started 17 years ago when he joined Deloitte as consultant of the IT IT & Data Risk Services department. During this time Javier has developed different roles, all related with IT & Data Risk, in several multinational companies and, recently, he has started his journey as business angel and advisor for technology-based startups. During 9 years at Deloitte, Javier performed dozens of IT audits and IT security projects across companies in multiple sectors leading the GRC practice at Barcelona’s office and developing the IT due diligence methodology for M&A.
He joined ADP (Automated Data Processing, inc.), a Fortune 500 company, as International Security Program Manager and also appointed as Head of the International Vendor Assurance Office (EMEA, LATAM and AsiaPac) ensuring vendors met ADP cybersecurity standards and managing the team conducting holistic vendor risk assessments in this regions.
In 2015, joined Banc Sabadell where, beyond the current role, has developed different roles including creation of the Vendor Risk Assurance Office building the Sabadell’s vendor oversight for IT risks, being liaison between the bank and Supervisors (ECB, Bank of Spain…) and rating agencies for IT & cybersecurity matters and leading the Data Office establishing the data governance model and also developing GRC solution (RSA Archer) roadmap for the bank.
Javier also holds an Executive MBA from IESE Business School and a degree in Telecommunications Engineering, apart from several courses and certifications. He has also participated as speaker in IT related events such as Archer EMEA Summit and RSA Leaders Series podcasts.
